Retail Associate - P/T

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide customer service work that involves thrift store operations.  This includes providing excellent customer service to all internal and external thrift store customers.  Essential duties include: 

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• The ability to process large quantities of donations to prepare items for the sales floor
• The ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 50 pounds
• Knowledge and experience using a Point of Sale system
• Stock shelves, counters and tables with merchandise.
• Assist with advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counters or tables attractively to promote sales.
• Stamp, mark or tag price on merchandise.
• Follow thrift store and company policies and procedures. 

Requirements for the position include:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, customer service and professional appearance required.
• Retail customer service experience preferred.
• Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store.
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is preferred.

Food Services Coordinator

We are seeking a self-motivated Food Services Coordinator to join our Joshua Catering Team.  The Food Services Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Food Services and be responsible for daily entry of food service contracts into the software system, answering food service customer service inquiries, food and supply provisioning and providing support to the Director of Food Services.                                                                                            

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Answer incoming calls for information and quotes on food service contracts and associated costs.
    • Confer with food service contract clients to determine their specific choices of food and beverages and provide them with proposals.
    • Oversee requisitions and ordering, storing food properly and safely, according to established kitchen procedures and approved budgets.
    • Assist with the rotation of all foods.
    • Assist with incoming orders from vendors, including the ability to lift or pull up to 50 pounds when necessary (handcart may be used).
    • Working with team to maintain all food storage areas.
    • Work food production shifts based on business needs. 
    • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards. Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
    • Ability to receive guidance and supervision, follow work rules and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to understand and follow directions from supervisor and follow established safety/security practices.
    • Maintain flexibility to changing tasks or requests. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Food Services. 

Requirements for the position include:  

    • High school diploma or GED, Associates in Culinary, Hospitality or higher preferred. 
    • Minimum of 2 years steward, purchasing or other similar experience.
    • Culinary and customer service experience preferred.
    • Experience with web-based catering software (Total Party Planner, Caterease, etc.) . 
    • Strong reading and writing skills; excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.
    • Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
    • Ability to follow all written and verbal instructions and procedures.

Staff Accountant - F/T

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in the agency by assisting the Controller as directed with financial record keeping and reporting for The Lord’s Place to provide accurate and timely financial reporting, as well as general operations of accounting.  

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Prepare journal entries.
    • Coordinate and/or prepare monthly grant reimbursement invoices.  Once approved by Controller, submits to the Finance Assistant/IT Administrator to upload/transmit to outside agency and record entry. 
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations, including balances for all restricted grants. 
    • Prepare monthly program profit and loss (budget vs. actual) reports and interface with program teams to ensure an understanding of financial data for the purposes of managing budgets.
    • Prepare monthly balance sheet support schedules.
    • Provide back-up support to other finance staff for payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
    • Review monthly expenses to ensure the source is appropriate.
    • Under the direction of the Controller, confers with personnel affected by grant-funded programs to outline how funds are to be used, and explain statistical information necessary to comply with funding agreements.  

Requirements for the position include:  

    • Bachelor degree in accounting is required.
    • Minimum of three years accounting experience is required.
    • Fund accounting and progressive government grant billing experience or equivalent preferred. 
    • A passion for numbers and a willingness to proactively take ownership of the financial records and ensure data integrity. 
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
    • Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Fund-EZ preferred and Office 2010 or higher required.
