Therapist - F/T

We are seeking an exceptional, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide community-based mental health treatment to promote recovery and community integration for adults who participate in our CARE Team services.  The Therapist will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team that delivers integrated healthcare services and will have extensive experience of community treatment services, recovery, and the engagement of participants who have a history of poor engagement in traditional mental health services. 

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments
  • Integrate assessments, information acquired through multi-disciplinary team collaboration, prior medical records, and client need to formulate meaningful recovery plans that support social integration and utilization of community-based services. 
  • Play an integral role in CARE Team meetings by sharing pertinent information through a strengths-based perspective to team members that informs service provision and promotes recovery.
  • Complete required documentation (assessments, recovery plans and recovery plan updates, safety plans, case notes) and outcome measures in compliance with funder and state requirements. 
  • Involve community supports and family members in the client’s community integration and team participation. 
  • Provide individual and group therapy that promotes community integration and addresses needs related to problem-solving, wellness self-management. 

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

  • LCSW or licensed clinician with a current Florida license. May consider registered interns close to licensure.
  • Possesses a passion for people experiencing homelessness, social justice, engagement, and recovery.
  • At least three years’ experience working in human services with individuals with serious mental illness, trauma, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience utilizing various short-term and evidence-based models and theories of engagement, psychosocial skills building, interpersonal effectiveness, trauma treatment.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in computers.
  • Requires ability to operate business equipment used daily within the organization.

Culinary Instructor - F/T

We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic individual with excellent culinary skills to assist with the day-to-day operations of Café Joshua and our food service operations, along with providing supervision and instruction to culinary apprentices.  The successful candidate must have broad experience in the culinary field, with an average of 5 years of experience, including supervisory experience.  Compassion for the homeless population is critical for this position.  This is a 7-day per week operation and will require weekend work.  

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Oversee the instruction of culinary apprentices.
    • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
    • Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
    • Instruct apprentices on proper rotation of cold food and staples, how to maintain an orderly pantry and food storage area, how to maintain a clean kitchen, equipment and workstation, knife skills, and the various kitchen stations.
    • Instruct and prepare apprentices for the Food Handlers Exam.
    • Ability to receive guidance and supervision, follow work rules and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to understand and follow directions from supervisor and follow established safety/security practices.
    • Maintain flexibility to changing tasks or requests.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service according to business needs.

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • ServSafe Certified
    • Ability to demonstrate and provide instruction of culinary skills to apprentices.
    • Supervisory experience in the culinary industry preferred.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule. 
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
    • Ability to follow all written and oral instructions and procedures.
    • Standing for long periods of time.
    • Safely lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs (handcart may be used), as well as reaching, bending, and kneeling.
    • Maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the kitchen equipment and machines used in the performance of this job, such as oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef's knives.
    • A valid Florida State Class E drivers’ license and a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable Company insurance in order to operate company vehicles is preferred.

Peer Specialist - F/T

For more than 30 years, The Lord’s Place, a social impact agency, has been working to break the cycle of homelessness by providing innovative, compassionate and effective services to men, women and children in our community.  

The Lord’s Place is seeking a Peer Specialist to work in our family housing program to provide consumer support directly to families participating in our housing program. The Peer Specialist utilizes lived experiences and demonstrates an ability to use their personal narrative in the service of assisting others. The Peer Specialist assists housing residents in the utilization of appropriate community resources, engagement, and development of wellness and recovery skills. The Peer Specialist provides information, support, assistance, and advocacy for individuals and families. The Peer Specialist is uniquely poised to provide collaborative and person-centered support services from a peer perspective. 

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Provides peer support and self-help services to housing program participants as appropriate, including engagement, coaching to develop self-advocacy, communication, and empowerment skills.
    • Assists in a variety of support activities including peer support groups, peer recovery and family and/or psycho-educational groups to improve mental health outcomes for client.
    • Provides peer assistance and mentoring on a one-on-one basis to aid others in managing their mental health needs.
    • Collaboratively work with peers in the development of a strength-based wellness and recovery plans to overcome barriers to good mental health.
    • Develops effective working relationships with agencies, organizations, and community members to respond and advocate for individuals and families from a peer perspective.
    • Communicates effectively, represents and promotes the consumer and/or family members’ perspective within mental health, homelessness, reentry, and other relevant systems.
    • Assists in the development and coordination of activities, programs, and resources which directly support program residents.
    • Attends and participates in special events, conferences, and workshops and trainings within the community.
    • Focuses on and is sensitive to client satisfaction with the services received and general satisfaction with services provided.
    • Attends and participates in supervision and multidisciplinary meetings.
    • Assists program staff to implement day to day program activities.
    • Provides transportation in company vehicle throughout Palm Beach County.
    • Documents all activities as required. 

Requirements for the position include:  

    • If eligible, holds, or is willing to obtain Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) certification with the Florida Certification Board.
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge and ability to model recovery values including hope, education, self-advocacy, personal responsibility and support.
    • Requires High School diploma, or GED.
    • Preferred qualification is completion of Peer Support Specialist training with additional mental health training. If training has not been completed, Peer Specialist must complete within 6 months of hire.
    • Familiarity with local social service agencies, community resources, and support services preferred.
    • Requires excellent verbal and communication skills.
    • Requires ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
    • Requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, internet software and a web-based database.
    • Ideal candidates are not required to have received services with The Lord’s Place. All candidates who identify as being a peer are eligible for hire. Former clients will not receive special consideration.

Retail Associate - P/T

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide customer service work that involves thrift store operations.  This includes providing excellent customer service to all internal and external thrift store customers.  Essential duties include: 

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• The ability to process large quantities of donations to prepare items for the sales floor
• The ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 50 pounds
• Knowledge and experience using a Point of Sale system
• Stock shelves, counters and tables with merchandise.
• Assist with advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counters or tables attractively to promote sales.
• Stamp, mark or tag price on merchandise.
• Follow thrift store and company policies and procedures. 

Requirements for the position include:  

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, customer service and professional appearance required.
• Retail customer service experience preferred.
• Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store.
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is preferred.

Food Services Coordinator

We are seeking a self-motivated Food Services Coordinator to join our Joshua Catering Team.  The Food Services Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Food Services and be responsible for daily entry of food service contracts into the software system, answering food service customer service inquiries, food and supply provisioning and providing support to the Director of Food Services.                                                                                            

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Answer incoming calls for information and quotes on food service contracts and associated costs.
    • Confer with food service contract clients to determine their specific choices of food and beverages and provide them with proposals.
    • Oversee requisitions and ordering, storing food properly and safely, according to established kitchen procedures and approved budgets.
    • Assist with the rotation of all foods.
    • Assist with incoming orders from vendors, including the ability to lift or pull up to 50 pounds when necessary (handcart may be used).
    • Working with team to maintain all food storage areas.
    • Work food production shifts based on business needs. 
    • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards. Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
    • Ability to receive guidance and supervision, follow work rules and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to understand and follow directions from supervisor and follow established safety/security practices.

Requirements for the position include:  

    • High school diploma or GED, Associates in Culinary, Hospitality or higher preferred. 
    • Minimum of 2 years steward, purchasing or other similar experience.
    • Culinary and customer service experience preferred.
    • Experience with web-based catering software (Total Party Planner, Caterease, etc.) . 
    • Strong reading and writing skills; excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.
    • Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
    • Ability to follow all written and verbal instructions and procedures.

Staff Accountant - F/T

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in the agency by assisting the Controller as directed with financial record keeping and reporting for The Lord’s Place to provide accurate and timely financial reporting, as well as general operations of accounting.  

Some essential functions and responsibilities will include: 

    • Prepare journal entries.
    • Coordinate and/or prepare monthly grant reimbursement invoices.  Once approved by Controller, submits to the Finance Assistant/IT Administrator to upload/transmit to outside agency and record entry. 
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations, including balances for all restricted grants. 
    • Prepare monthly program profit and loss (budget vs. actual) reports and interface with program teams to ensure an understanding of financial data for the purposes of managing budgets.
    • Prepare monthly balance sheet support schedules.
    • Provide back-up support to other finance staff for payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
    • Review monthly expenses to ensure the source is appropriate.
    • Under the direction of the Controller, confers with personnel affected by grant-funded programs to outline how funds are to be used, and explain statistical information necessary to comply with funding agreements.  

Requirements for the position include:  

    • Bachelor degree in accounting is required.
    • Minimum of three years accounting experience is required.
    • Fund accounting and progressive government grant billing experience or equivalent preferred. 
    • A passion for numbers and a willingness to proactively take ownership of the financial records and ensure data integrity. 
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
    • Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Fund-EZ preferred and Office 2010 or higher required.
